What happens during the test
- The plumber checks downspouts and roof leaders to confirm they do not drain into the sanitary sewer.
- Area drains that take storm or surface water, such as driveway drains, are checked the same way.
- The plumber checks that the fresh air vent is high enough, and placed so that storm or surface water cannot get in.
If the test fails
The Borough will not issue evidence of compliance until illegal connections are removed and a licensed plumber certifies the removal. If bad weather delays the test, or repairs can't be finished before closing, the Borough may issue temporary evidence of compliance if a security deposit is posted. Call the Borough at 412-431-8107.
